Misty Morning Farmhouse

Misty Morning Farmhouse, courtesy of D.J. England on Flickr. To see more of D.J. England’s photos, please click here.

This photograph was taken on 24th September 2011 in Arkell, Ontario, Canada. Arkell is a small town near Guelph, and just down the road from our house. Hubby and I love to go for country drives and see beautiful old stone farmhouses like this one. I love the way the mist swirls around in this photo.

One of the things I like about living in Guelph is how close we are to the country. The part of Florida we lived in, Tampa Bay, had beautiful beaches, but is one of the most densely populated areas of Florida. Apart from the beaches there were very few open spaces.

Another thing I like about Guelph is there is always something going on. On October 14 – 16 there is the Twenty-sixth Annual Guelph Studio Tour 2011 where the work of several local artists will be exhibited.

  1. ... ahhh yes, driving around local country backroads. I too enjoy, usually with a camera and a friend or two, but sometimes solo. There is much of that to do around Guelph.

  2. Hi, I found your blog when I was googling dog paws and your sweet schnauzer came up. I'm enjoying your take on Ontario. You've made me realize there's so much I take for granted living in Ontario and Canada. The beauty of the changing seasons, public health care, not being pressured to join the army while in art class...

You remind me a little of Hudson the Husky. Ever heard of him? There's a Canadian artist, Marc Tetro, who writes and illustrates children's books. The one that comes to mind is "New Boots for Hudson". In the book Hudson, who lives in Miami Manitoba, wins a trip to Miami Florida. He befriends two Flamingos there and has a little adventure, but in the end he realizes there's no place like home, despite the extreme cold :)

Thanks for such a great blog!

  3. Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay in replying to your comments - I had issues with logging into blogger. I could post a blog, but could not comment because I kept getting logged out. I hope I have it sorted now.

  4. Hi Doug England, I agree. Of course, for me, it's without the camera, since I'm not a very good photographer.

  5. Hi Andrea K,
I'm so glad you enjoy my blog. Your kind comments really made my day.

It's interesting as a Canadian returning to Canada, since I see home through new eyes now. We are coming up to our one year anniversary this Saturday, 8th.

No, I haven't heard of Hudson the Husky, but it certainly sounds interesting.
